One Major Injury vs. A Lot of Minor Traumas

major injury vs repetitive micro trauma

What do you think is worse for your body – one big injury OR a lot of little injuries? And which do you think is most common?

Consider the following:

  • If you have your child lie down on the ground and get up 10 times in a row, they’ll probably get up a different way about EVERY time.
  • But what happens when we (adults) do this experiment? We probably get up the SAME way every single time!

Repetitive movements will use the same joints, the same muscles, nerves, ligaments, and everything over and over and over. This is what I call Repetitive Microtrauma. These little traumas happening again and again are a more common cause of long-lasting pains and dysfunctions than the major traumas (aka macrotrauma) of car accidents, falling on ice, or lifting a piano.

I have worked on many patients with both types of injuries, but these minor traumas are the ones that usually take longer to get better. These are patterns that need to be unlearned, and even with proper treatment the resulting injuries take some time to heal properly.

As a patient at Favero Chiropractic, you can get relief from these long term pains. Your chronic conditions can become a thing of the past. We actually know what we’re doing, and we want to help you feel better and reach ALL your health goals.
