Jaw problems can come from a good old-fashioned punch in the face, or from something as simple as stress.
My jaw pain first started with the stresses of adjusting to life in Southeast Asia. I found I was grinding my teeth a night, and would awake with tightness in my jaw and a need to click or pop my mouth open. This worsened when I entered the rigors of school and worked towards my doctorate degree in Oregon.
Fortunately, I was at a chiropractic college and could receive treatment for TMJ (temporomandibular joint) injury. I became intensely committed to learn everything I could about the TMJ and everything related to jaw problems.
After almost 10 years I have had the opportunity to help many patients with jaw pain and associated problems such as ear pain, sinus troubles, neck pain, headaches, vertigo and dizziness. These conditions are often related to each other and you may experience one or all of them.
The process of treatment and recovery varies widely based on the cause and severity of your symptoms, but our main goal is to discover the cause and determine the best course of care to bring you lasting relief.
