How Chiropractic Works (Part 3)

how chiropractic works, wellness care

Here’s a summary of the first two parts on How Chiropractic Works:

  • Part 1 – Instead of a “quick fix” that focuses on the superficial symptoms, chiropractic gets deeper and discovers the cause of your problems.
  • Part 2 – Proper healing takes time. It is focused on the long term so you can get better and stay better.

FINAL THOUGHTS

As mentioned in the last post, healing for the long term is more of a process than an event. It’s a series of doses that are more frequent at first, and then lengthened out further and further until you’ve reached a state of wellness – – – where you are both less symptomatic and more stable for any future insults to your system.

This type of treatment doesn’t guarantee you will never have pains again. That would be a ridiculous claim by any doctor. We go through so much each day that it’s actually amazing how much our bodies can take without hurting. But focusing on long-term healing can strengthen and stabilize you so when those minor or major injuries occur you’ll be more ready for them.

WELLNESS CARE

For this reason, Favero Chiropractic recommends returning for wellness care after you’ve reached this stage of stabilization. The idea is that you’ve done the work to get moving better and have less tightness and stiffness – so you’ve conquered the effects of injury and the things that led to your pains and problems in the first place. Now it’s a lot easier to help you stay this way by continuing your home care and returning for periodic chiropractic treatment.

These visits will mostly consist of a simple follow up and testing the areas to find if all is moving properly and free from muscle irritation or joint restrictions. You may have new injuries to look into or Dr. Favero might find that you’ve maintained your progress and only minor findings are present. Treatment will address the regions needing attention, and adapt based on changes that may have occurred since your last appointment.

Look at it this way: It is a lot easier to keep you doing well, once we’ve got you doing well, than it is to wait until things get bad and then you need to come in several times to get it all working again.

Here is a great video addressing the research behind the frequency of chiropractic care:
