In this world of now-now-now, we have blazing fast computers and cars and even use abbreviations in texting to make speech faster. So is it any wonder that many of us treat our bodies the same way? When we become tired, ill, or injured it’s frustrating to wait for healing to occur. We act like we’ll lose our minds if we don’t get “better” immediately. But is that really what is best for our bodies?
HAPPY BODY = HAPPY YOU
On his first appointment with a patient, Dr. Favero explains that chiropractic…is a little different. It’s not about applying the highest risk treatments to quickly fight the symptoms that appear on the surface. A chiropractor works to discover the cause of your ailments – the deeper primary problem – so they can help your body function properly. Then it will stop spitting out those unwanted symptoms like pain, headaches, or fatigue.
This is better for your body because instead of covering up or hiding the warning signals (symptoms) we are getting down to the actual issue, the thing that is wrong. The injury or illness that when left untreated will lead to other more noticeable conditions. And this takes some time.
HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?
Finding the main causes of your suffering requires a thorough history and physical examination. This discovery takes a little extra time, and so does the treatment process. In fact, most of the time chiropractic takes more than one visit. How annoying is that?!! This is because the goal is not to relieve pain, but to restore function. And, yes, a cool thing that comes from better function is less pain.
So instead of thinking, “Let’s get this over with and I’ll get back to my normal life,” try to see it this way: “Something is screwed up here, and am I willing to take the time to get it fixed?”
We’ll continue this with our next post that deals more with long-term healing, and how chiropractic can achieve this through a process of stabilizing the body. So join us again next time!
